Love it. Ever hear about the lady who wrote a letter to the editor of Reader's Digest, protesting the fact that they ran a cover article about J.K. Rowling, because she was a Satanist who was personally responsible for over 30,000 US children joining the Church of Satan. "It's true," the woman declared, "because I read it on the internet news site, theonion.com."
The RD editor showed great restraint in telling her that The Onion is a parody site.
I have the actual copy of RD with this letter around here somewhere, buried among the (slightly less than) million things I own. :o)
Ok, nerdlet that I am, I read your headline and was completely alarmed at the thought!!! I read about half the article before 1 + 1 finally equalled 2 for me, and I realized it was a joke. Now, in my defense, it's been a long day and I've had to read one too many serious (read: dull) work memos...
Hey, Karen, you turned in a TPS Report without a cover sheets. Did you get the memo?
Yeah, the cover sheet I know, I know. Bill already talked to me about it. ...Yeah, I got the memo and I understand the policy. And the problem is just that I just forgot the one time. And I've already taken care of it so it's not really even a problem anymore.
"Corporate accounts payable, Nina speaking...just a moment."
I just realized that I've been moved to the basement of my building. I didn't think anything of it at first but... Man, if they take my stapler that'll be the last straw!!!
