Score Update: Dad - 1 / Cancer - 0

I got the news that my dad is unofficially cancer-free! I say "unofficially" because the doctors still have to put their blessing on it to make it all official-like and recommend the next course of action, but I'm taking all the good news I can get these days.

The pathology report for tissue that was removed from his neck came back negative for cancerous-type material on all counts. Even the two lymphnodes that had appeared to be abnormal in the MRI (and, btw, were the reason this whole surgery was conducted in the first place) showed no signs of cancer. It's a miracle, I tell you! I freakin' miracle!

Dad is in good spirits and is recovering more and more of his strength everyday. Of course, he's a bit put-out by the whole process especially since they found none of the cancer for which they were looking...

"Why'd I have to go through the whole dammed mess if they weren't going to find anything in the end?"

But, we never would have known if he didn't go through the "whole dammed mess" so there's the rub I guess.

We're getting closer to the out skirts of them woods and we'll keep on going until we're blinking in the clear sunlight.
